The Economic Development program enhances community planning efforts and facilitates work on economic development projects that create jobs in Southeast Alaska through partnering with local, state, and federal agencies while promoting the interests of the Tribe.
The program also provides assistance to Southeast Alaska communities in development of Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS) and community plans through technical assistance, report development, planning and advocacy.
The purpose of CEDS is to initiate and sustain a local planning and implementation process by which jobs are created, more stable and diversified economies are fostered, and living conditions are improved. CEDS is a mechanism for coordinating economic developments activities and is a valuable tool for bringing focus to the planning and development efforts of these unique and diverse communities throughout the region.
The preparation of this CEDS is a joint project of Southeast Conference (SEC) and Tlingit & Haida with special assistance from Juneau Economic Development Council.
